Dear Prospective Teacher!
You have just stepped into the EPIK program, which guarantees immediate job placement in South Korea. I am glad that you are interested in teaching opportunities in South Korea, because it is a wonderful program that has benefited numerous recent college graduates, as well as more experienced professionals. The EPIK program gives you the opportunity to travel, experience a new culture, work in a rewarding field, and earn good money with full benefits, as you also move forward in your career by gaining invaluable experience. The contractual commitment is for only one year, but most participants stay on for a second or even third year of teaching.

South Korea has the 10th largest economy in the world and is one of the world’s most technologically advanced and digitally connected countries. So, whether you teach in a bustling city or in a quiet town, beautiful mountains, unspoiled beaches, and cultural landmarks are within easy reach by taking the KTX bullet train. Furthermore, as an international hub for Asia, you will be a short hop from Japan, China, and other nations and cultures of the Far East. For many, this teaching opportunity has represented a life-changing experience.

In regard to your duties, you will serve as an English-language teaching assistant in one of the country’s public school districts. You will work with an experienced Korean teacher of English to improve the quality and depth of English-language instruction in your school, and you will be provided with a complete orientation to your job, as well as to aspects of Korean culture that you should know. (But don’t worry – you do not need to know any Korean!) You will spend 22 hours per week in the classroom and additional hours doing administrative work (a total of 40 hours per week, from Monday through Friday). However, you will receive 12-16 paid holidays and 14 paid vacation days during your one-year commitment, so there is ample opportunity for rest, relaxation, and travel. Furthermore, medical insurance, furnished housing, and round-trip airfare are provided free of cost, and your salary will be tax-free (for both Korean and U.S. tax purposes). Lastly, you will be paid an additional month’s salary as a bonus at the completion of your one-year contract. Therefore, this is a truly rewarding opportunity in every sense.

There is, of course, some paperwork to be completed if you wish to be placed in one of these positions. We will require a completed application form, a personal essay, a college transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a medical report. However, as long as your credentials and paperwork are in order and you meet the program requirements, we can guarantee you job placement as early as this September. Bloomfield College is fortunate to be the only institution of higher education in the United States working in partnership with the government of South Korea to place eligible participants in the EPIK program. The first step is to send us an email or to call us indicating an interest in moving forward with this process. I will then schedule a personal or phone meeting with you to discuss what steps you should take next.
